Admiralty Way Widening
To "pave the way" for massive redevelopment in Marina del Rey, the County proposes a massive two-part road project:
* Realign the 90-Freeway extension to curve further south and enter directly into the Marina at or near Bali Way (near the Library and the only pedestrian/bicycle crossing).
* Widen Admiralty Way to 6 lanes from that entry point southward, and 5 lanes westward toward Via Marina (3 westbound, 2 returning).
Funding for these projects was rejected earlier this year. This did not stop the project, however (it will just be re-submitted in the next budget; the County has targeted construction to begin in 2011).
The Draft Environmental Impact Report is due out late this year. The County is required to schedule another public hearing at that time. To view details of the project proposals, and to receive a notice of the hearing, please sign up at the following link. http://www.sr90admiraltyway.org/index.asp

Note: A plan to demolish the little monument park at the intersection of Admiralty Way and Via Marina, in order to turn Admiralty/Via Marina into one continuous loop expressway, was separated from this proposal and is being pursued as a separate project. As soon as we find it, we'll make the info available.
