The new Espirit I apartment complex opened for rental earlier this month. Word is, they only have 9 units rented so far. We've heard the penthouse is going for somewhere between $17,000 (from Small Craft Harbor Commissioner, Russ Lesser) to $24,000. YIKES. Esprit I was built by Doug Ring's Marina Two Holdings, the same company that is in violation of its Bar Harbor lease. It is located on Marquesas Way.

By the way, Bar Harbor is slated to become Esprit II, more of the same building style (or lack thereof) and prices as Esprit I

Whan questioned as to why they (Esprit I) think they can demand so much $$$ for apartments, when comps are so much lower, answer has been "becuase we are setting a new standard for the marina, and this is the way it will be for all new properties."

Dockmaster is inspecting all boats that make application, and is insisting on repairs to make boat appear bristol (told one sailboat owner with nearly perfect boat to replace rub-rail, becuase it was dinged).

I decided not to go to Esprit because I could not get into a 40' slip. The overall length of my boat, including the dinghy, came to 46' which was 2' past the max. for a 40' slip. They did offer me a 45' slip but that would have cost me $1,200.00 per month not including utilities and cable. Too expensive for me. I will be applying to all the other marinas and hope I can stay in MDR.
