Moratorium on development called for by Venice Neighborhood Council

On Tuesday evening, February 17, the Venice Neighborhood Council passed a resolution calling for the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to suspend the issuance of development permits and entitlements for all land/projects located within Marina del Rey proper until a comprehensive Environmental Impact Report (EIR) is prepared by the Department of Regional Planning, covering all such proposed or anticipated developments and addressing their environmental impacts on adjacent communities within the City of Los Angeles.

Additionally, they added as an alternative, that a Comprehensive LCP Update consisting of all proposed or anticipated developments within Marina del Rey for purposes of the Project be prepared and submitted to the California Coastal Commission for consideration and approval, which mirrors the California Coastal Commission's own recommendation.

David Barish of We ARE Marina del Rey assisted in drafting the resolution put forth by Venice stakeholder Marc Salztberg. The community of Marina del Rey as well as We ARE Marina del Rey thank Marc and the VNC for supporting our efforts for a master plan and a proper environmental review of proposed development.
